Plumber in Cannock Jailed for falsely claiming to be Registered

A Plumber in Cannock has been jailed after installing a boiler and using a friends CORGI number.

Prosecuted under the Health and Safety at Work Act

He was prosecuted under section33(1)(g) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and after peading guilty jailed for 84 days. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said that fortunately in this case no one had died or become ill as a result of the work carried out but such blatant disregard for the law will not be ignored by the HSE.

CORGI now Gas Safe Register

Since this case of course the need for CORGI registration by gas fitters has been replaced by The Gas Safe Register but the same legal requirement for gas fitters and gas engineers to be registered is carried on.

Gas Safe Solutions may be more expensive

This case raises one of the serious concerns of legitimate Gas Safe Registered engineers. A company such as 1st Action does always ensure that gas installations are carried out by suitably qualified engineers and as a result we may find that the solution to a gas boiler problem is more expensive than a solution provided by a non qualified engineer.

This is usually because the proper solution is the safest solution. An old boiler which has not been regularly serviced may be able to be repaired by an engineer but a properly qualified and experienced engineer will be very well aware of the potential dangers of what may only be a temporary repair.

Take heed of the expert Gas Safe Registered engineers advice

Our engineers will check your boiler and give you advice. The advice will be as a result of their diagnosis as an expert. They give great consideration to the safe running of the boiler not only at the moment that the job is completed but in its reasonable future.

If it needs a full overhaul please take notice. If you are advised that you need a new boiler please consider it carefully. At the outset you may feel that it could be done more cheaply but so often the cheap solution is not the best solution and in the case of your gas boiler a mistake could cost you your life or that of your family.

Properly installed and serviced Gas Boilers are absolutely safe

Gas Boilers and appliances are absolutely safe as long as they are properly installed and serviced regularly by qualified engineers so please don’t take risks when you are advised by an experienced expert Gas Safe Registered engineer.
